This blog is mainly about dogs [cur-dogs, stockdogs, pit bulls], and also about mountain lions, earthquakes, reptiles, wildfires, wild birds, water policy, graphic design, architecture, food, farming and good reads, with occasional posts on the jagged and the shiny.
About me
I have some border collies, a young cur-dog, and a pit bull. Most of my dogs come from the excellent local pound. [For more pound pups, check out the Pet Harbor widget in the opposite sidebar.]
I'm a natural history wonk. I've been bitten by most of the non-venomous snake species in Southern California. I grew up assuming everyone owned a field guide to birds and made notes in it.
California native: family's been here since the 1800s.
The dog in the lower right corner of the screen is my sister's pug, Lily. Click on Lily for a quick return to the top of the page.
